Norrie A. Thomas
Norrie is a successful entrepreneur, having launched, managed, sold and founded several pharmacy managed care companies. She helped found one of the first pharmacy benefit management companies—Clinical Pharmacy Advantage. Norrie has held senior management positions at MedCenters Health Plans, Aetna, Clinical Pharmacy Advantage, McKesson, PCS, Eli Lilly, St. Jude Medical, Schering-Plough, and Magellan Health Services. She holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy and she studied as a visiting researcher at the London School of Economics. She is one of the founders of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
Norrie holds adjunct faculty positions at the University of Minnesota. She is Senior Fellow with the College of Pharmacy Center for Leading Healthcare Change at the University of Minnesota. In 2010, she was awarded AMCP’s highest award, the Steven G. Avey Award, which recognizes an individual for sustained, exemplary, and distinguished service to the profession of managed care pharmacy. In 2013, she received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the University of Minnesota. The award is the Highest Non-Degree Conferred by the University of Minnesota.
She is the retired president of her consulting company, Manchester Square Group (MSq) and a Board Member of the Patient Access Network Foundation (PAN), Washington DC. Her consulting company provided strategic business development for health care initiatives with a focus on pharmacy. She was active in creating international pharmacy opportunities to share ideas related to improved pharmacy practice and recently worked with a medical team from the University of Minnesota to help create the “First Annual (and second annual) International Medical-Pharmacy Conference” in Iringa, Tanzania.
She is the author of several books, most recently “An Unbalanced Success- Life.Leadership.Libretto” and a book about her artistic side the “The Needlepointer”. She resides in Wayzata and has four daughters and two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She is an avid gardener, opera lover and duplicate bridge player.
